The eccentricity distribution of wide binaries and their individual measurements

Eccentricity of wide binaries is difficult to measure due their long orbital periods. With Gaia's high-precision astrometric measurements, eccentricity a binary can be constrained by the angle between separation vector and relative velocity (the $v$-$r$ angle). In this paper, using angles in Gaia Early Data Release 3, we develop Bayesian approach distribution as function separations. Furthermore, infer eccentricities individual make them publicly available. Our results show that at $10^2$ AU close uniform becomes superthermal $>10^{3}$ AU, suggesting two formation mechanisms dominating different regimes. The formation, most likely disk fragmentation, $<10^{2}$ AU. leads highly eccentric may turbulent fragmentation and/or dynamical unfolding compact triples. Gaia, measuring now possible for large number binaries, opening new window understanding evolution.
